Anna Comnena – English (1083-1153). Wrote the Alexiad (15 volumes) about her father Emporer Amexius Comnenus

Marie de France (Hello, my name is Marie, I am from France. Prepare to Die.)
Wrote in Old French, Poet, well regarded. Has a Society named for her. “The Lays”

Christine de Pizan (Italian – 1364 – 1430) Supported herself by writing. Military, Book of the City of Ladies, and an Autobiography

Julian of Norwich – English (1342-1412) Anchorite. First book in English by a woman (on her visions)

Hildegard of Bingen – German (1098-1179) Abbess, Mystic, visions, music, artist, sought out for advice by Popes and Bishops.

Heloise (see also Abelard) French (1101-1164) Also see: Castration, Love and Letters.

Margery Kempe: English (1373- ~ 1438) Beer, Babies, Babbling and Broohaha. Autobiography. A joke? Fascinating.
